Hello, I am Inspector Alec Gibbons and I’m responsible for neighbourhood policing in the North East of Sheffield. As a team, we are committed to tackling the crime, anti-social behaviour and issues that matter to you and we work hard to make a difference.
My officers are some of the most proactive in Sheffield, hitting the streets every single day to ensure our communities are safe places to live and work. We are proud to have the support of local people and to reduce crime and put long term problem solving in place, we must work together.

Areas of the Burngreave ward have been highlighted as knife crime hotspots. A bespoke problem solving plan has been authored to address the identified hotspot.
The objective is to reduce knife crime by 33%
We are using the Office for National Statistics (ONS) definition of knife crime, (The Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to be monitored and reported on are listed below:
a) Levels of knife crime in the hyperlocal areas selected (Primary KPI). Knife Crime offences are defined here: Police recorded offences involving knives or sharp instruments: methodology changes - Office for National Statistics
b) Levels of knife crime in the total PFA (secondary KPI).
c) Levels of violence with injury and robbery in the hyperlocal areas selected (Secondary KPI based on GRIP definitions)
d) Patrol hours in the hyperlocal areas selected (Secondary KPI).Action taken:
A bespoke problem solving plan has been created working alongisde key partners in the area.

Targeting and reducing youth related anti social behaviour in and around the Southey and Firth Park Wards
Action taken:
A bespoke problem solving plan is being fianlised utilsiing the offender, vicitm and location problem solving tool known as the problem analaysis triangle.
This work incorporates key partners from health, social care, local area commity, housing, youth offending teams, local businesses and education. -
Priority:
Protecting vulnerbale perons, tackling crime and anti social behaviour within the Page Hall area. We are part of a mutli agency group being chaired by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.
Action taken:
We are the enforcement strand of the mutli agency team but also feature in other strands to support the local community of Page Hall
