Tackling Burglary within the North East
Action taken:
A nine street grid has been set as a trial to see if targeted bespoke crime prevention advice can reduce burglary offences.
Over 90% of properties have now been visited.
The initiative also looks a educating young people around home security to ensure this is embedded within all aspects of our communities.
Further to this initiative
More than 30 suspects were arrested on suspicion of burglary in the month of October. Detective colleagues are investigating each of these burglary offences and managing those suspects. Each residential burglary is supported by scenes of crime officers who will assess for forensic opportunities and PCSOs will cocoon each burglary offering crime prevention advice and seeking evidential opportunities from neighbouring properties.
More than £200,000 worth of drugs as well as suspected stolen goods have been recovered following warrants and searches across South Yorkshire.Officers conducted a series of warrants at locations across the region between Wednesday 27 November and Wednesday 4 December.
Three warrants and 12 searches were carried out as part of an operation to locate items related to theft and drug supply in the area.
A warrant executed at Yarra Industrial Estate, off Station Road in Ecclesfield, resulted in £200,000 worth of cannabis being seized, and a number of suspected stolen vehicles and vehicle parts recovered.
The eight-day operation also led to the seizure of a quantity of cocaine, suspected stolen tools worth £25,000, a firearm and ammunition, an imitation firearm, a knife, and a large quantity of cash.
Nine people were arrested in connection with the warrants, eight of whom have been bailed pending further enquiries.
A 41-year-old man from Chesterfield has been charged in connection with the warrants.
He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on 10 January 2025.

Targeting ASB within Parson Cross Park
Action taken:
A bespoke problem solving plan is being developed with partners to reduce ASB in the park.
An off road bike has recently been seized in relation to antisocial use of the park.
We also continue to work with our colleagues in the off road bike team to target those using our public spaces and highways illegally.In November and December 2024 more than 17 ASB warning letters have been issued to support with the aim of reducing ASB in the Southey Area
In 2025 an off road bike has been recovered and 2 riders served notices of intending prosecution
