The Independent Advisory Groups (IAGs) allow our communities to work with us to help improve our services. They advise on policing issues that may cause concern to local people and communities.
IAG members are volunteers from our communities and from various backgrounds interested in policing and its effect on our communities. They offer independent advice.
IAGs have a vital role in helping us build trust, confidence and better relationships, especially with our diverse communities and help ensure our policing style reflects the needs of the communities.
South Yorkshire Police have four district-based IAGs. Click on the links for more information:

We are keen to expand the membership of the IAGs. We would like to hear from people from various backgrounds, gender, disability, age, race, religion/belief and sexual orientation.
IAG members are expected to represent their communities and be willing and capable of engaging them effectively. The IAGs meet every three months in the evenings.
South Yorkshire Police may seek the involvement of members of the IAGs outside of the meetings to look at other themes raised for the IAGs to scrutinise.
You can apply to be part of an IAG if you:
Please email us completed and signed forms that you can download at the end of the page.
South Yorkshire Police will forward your completed application form to the IAG chairperson in your area:
