Hi, I am Inspector Rebecca Richardson, I cover all areas of Barnsley with the exception of the Town Centre. My teams are broken down into Barnsley West, Barnsley South, Barnsley South East, Barnsley North and Barnsley North East.
I have over 14 years’ experience as a police officer and love working across the Neighbourhood Teams serving Barnsley; our officers have passion and dedication for their areas, creating a safer and more enjoyable area for those who live and work here.
Neighbourhood policing has great benefits, it enables us to work closely with the public, community groups, partner agencies and businesses to be able to reduce crime and solve re-occurring and community issues.
This style of policing enables us to be part of the community and adapt problem solving approaches to local issues.
The past 12 months have been challenging for everyone and officers are keen to start engaging with you face to face again, understand your concerns and take action. We are incredibly grateful for the support given to us during this difficult and challenging time and look forward to seeing you all out enjoying Barnsley once again.
Hello, I am Police Sergeant Paul Aston and I have responsibility for the Southeast NPT area, known locally as the Dearne. I manage a team of 3 Police Officers and 3 Police Community Support Officers all of whom offer different areas of expertise and experience.
I have nearly 20 years experience as a Police Officer, with 6 of those years spent as a Sergeant within the Barnsley District.
I joined the Southeast Neighbourhood Policing Team in 2023 as I enjoy the challenges that the role brings. I see this part of policing as presenting a real opportunity to improve the lives of those within Goldthorpe, Thurnscoe and Bolton on Dearne through a real collaborative and problem solving approach with our partner agencies.
Whilst there can be a varying degree of issues that present themselves in the area, I am proud of the work my team and I have done over the last two years, including lowering burglary rates in Thurnscoe to their lowest in over 5 years and also reducing ASB and related criminality across the Dearne as a whole. I appreciate there there is still much work that requires doing and we will continue to tackle the issues that you deem as a priority.
