Barnsley is a large market town in South Yorkshire and the overall borough is home to more than 244,000 people. The town centre has the notable landmark of the Grade II listed town hall. Outside of the town, there are the notable stately homes of Cannon Hall and Wentworth Castle. The borough's west stretches to the edge of the Peak District's edges. It includes the notable towns of Darton, Cudworth, Royston, Wombwell, Hoyland, Dodworth, Penistone and Goldthorpe.
