This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.
The application process starts with the application form. Before you complete this, make sure you have considered the appropriate entry route for you, and you have read through our police officer entry routes guidance which can be found here. If successful, you will be invited to the next stage of the selection process.
The next stage will involve an online situational judgement test and behavioural style questionnaire (national sift), the national online assessment centre and then an in-force assessment (competency-based interview). You don’t need to worry about these as you will receive plenty of information before the tests. Further information regarding the national online assessment centre is provided by the College of Policing.
Whether you’re a school-leaver, a retailer or ex-military, we know that you will have plenty of transferable skills which you can bring to a career with the police. Things like following processes, social and emotional intelligence, conversation skills and the ability to diffuse a situation are all skills we search for in our candidates. If you have the relevant experience and strengths, all you have to do is apply.
We are an organisation that welcome, support and value those from underrepresented communities. From difference comes invaluable life experiences, ideas and ways of thinking – and by encouraging individuality we are working towards serving our communities and understanding our public better.
Please note that all candidates will be required to provide evidence that they hold the required qualifications during the recruitment and selection process, which will include providing copies of certificates.
You can view our eligibility and qualifications criteria here.
