Hi, I am Inspector Sebastian Dent. I lead the Neighbourhood Policing Team covering the Sprotbrough, Norton/Askern, Adwick/Carcroft, Bentley and Roman Ridge Ward areas. The team is Based at Davies house Police station on Barnsley Road.
I have over 17 years experience as a police officer and have worked in various roles including Neighbourhoods, Organised crime disruption, Safer Neighbourhoods partnership and as a Response officer and Sergeant. The majority of my service has been spent in Doncaster and a significant period has been in the North area of the City.
I am delighted to have the opportunity to help create and embed the new North Neighbourhood Policing team. It is clear that the team are driven by a real desire to make a difference in the communities they serve, creating a safer and more enjoyable environment for those who live and work here.
The creation of the new North NPT aligns us with the council's localities model, enabling better joint working and an enhanced service for all residents.
Neighbourhood Policing has great benefits. It enables us to work closely with the public, community groups, partner agencies and businesses to be able to reduce crime and solve re-occurring and community issues. Please be sure to contact your local teams and follow us on social media, to stay informed with what we are doing and engagement events running in your community to come and speak to us. This will enable us to be part of the community and adapt problem solving approaches to local issues.

OCG's are known to recruit and exploit vulnerable people, making it difficult for victims to seek help and undermining community safety.
Issued 17 November 2025
Working with Social care, health services, education partners and third sector organisations, we will identify vulnerable individuals at risk and deliver early interventions, protective measures, and targeted support packages.
This is managed through various meetings on daily, weekly and monthly levels. Targeted activity has taken place to safeguard throughout the North area.

ASB is a blight on the community in many areas whether it be street level or a larger scale community issue. We will work as a partnership and set up effective structures to ascertain the appriate level of response and resource to tackle the issues
Issued 04 March 2026
We continue to work with statutary partners and voluntary groups to divert those involvced in ASB to meaningful projects or diversionary activities.
We work hand in hand with the local authority ASB officer in conducting home visits to those identified as being involved in ASB taking a stepped approach to action. SYP have issues several closure warning notices to properties throughout the North area. If the ASB or criminal behavior continues we will continue to apply to the courts for a full closure. This will mean the property cannot be used for a period of three months. Police continue to use Community protection notices and warning issued to those we know are continuing to commit ASB in the area.
Doncaster North NPT have significantly increased the use of Community protection notices and criminal behaviour orders to tackle persistent ASB and criminality.
We continue to look at all current legislation to deal with issues of ASB and crime at an early stage.
We are working closely with St Leger homes and local council enforcement who manage propertiues where issues have been found.
These agencies are now taking formal action whether it be warnings or eviction notices.
Action is ongoing to tackle agreed problem properties. Action ranging from intense supportr to evictions continues to take place

There is a wide demographic in the North area . Community engagement and information sharing is vital to both share information and police action. Also to establish what different communities expect the Police to prioritise.
The community feels there is a lack of feedback to them on how the Police are dealing with issues or at least the activity around them.
Issued 04 March 2026
Through the wider partnership we will attend community meetings, social groups and local councillor sessions to engage with as many community representatives as possible. Target hard to reach communities through various channels.
Social media, community centres, shopping centres, pop up stalls, drop in sessions working in partnership with the local authority.
Create bespoke newsletter for the area policing team and also use media more to update on positive results or patrol activity.
Specifically in the Adwick/Carcroft ward will be a partnership house situated withing Highfields. This will allow residents to call in and speak to a number of partners in one space to discuss any concerns.

Motorcycle thefts and the resulting ASB from the illegal use has been identified as an issue across the North. Doncaster has seen and increase in motorcyles being stolen and then subsequently used to travel on the road network as well as off road. The bikes are ridden in an anti-social and sometimes dangerous manner
Issued 01 December 2025
Operation spoke alpha continues to achieve great results in the area with over a dozen cases progressing through the courts. The latest audited figures show a marked reduction in the trend of motorcycles being stolen.
Many offenders are juveniles and these are being progressed through the stepped youth justice system to curb offending.
