We are releasing a CCTV image of a man we would like to speak to in connection with a report of rape in Sheffield.
On 18 June, we received a call into our control room reporting that a teenage girl had been raped near Cat Lane, Gleadless Valley, at around 5.25pm.
Extensive efforts including CCTV checks, house to house enquiries, and forensic investigations have been carried out since we received the initial report and we are now appealing for the public’s help to identify the man in this image as we believe he may be able to help us with our enquiries.
Do you recognise him? He is described as a Black man with a large build who is around 5ft 6ins tall.
At the time the image was taken, he was wearing dark burgundy trousers, a black hooded jacket, a black rucksack, and white trainers with grey or black markings.
Superintendent Martin Simcock said:
“We understand that news of this incident will cause concern in the local area and we are utilising every resource we have at our disposal as enquiries continue.
“This includes officers who will be available to people in the community during patrols designed to prevent further offences.
“If you were in the area at the time and saw someone matching the description of the man in this image, please get in touch with us. He could hold important information which may help us progress our investigation.”
If you think you can help, report information online or by calling 101. Please quote incident number 833 of 18 June 2026.
