Response
We approached our Operational Support Unit (OSU) with your request. An analyst has provided the following information and explanation:
I have amended the dates on the original request as the ones listed did not make any sense to me. I changed the dates to reflect: 26th July **** to 25th July ****.
26th July 2019 to 25th July 2020 = 2. 2 INJURY.
26th July 2020 to 25th July 2021 = 12. 7 INJURY & 5 NON-INJURY.
26th July 2021 to 25th July 2022 = 29. 22 INJURY & 7 NON-INJURY.
26th July 2012 to 25th July 2023 = 26. 18 INJURY & 8 NON-INJURY.
26th July 2023 to 25th July 2024 = 42. 37 INJURY & 5 NON-INJURY.
Please note:
• DfT RTC recording Guidelines (STATS20) does not have a specific vehicle type of E-Scooter or E-Bike.
• National definitions of these are vague at best.
• The only way of isolating these RTC’s is via the option of OTHER VEHICLE TYPE. This is filled in at the discretion of the inputter via the NCRF, if filled out correctly by the attending officer at the scene.
• All versions of E-Scooter & E-Bike and have been extracted, however, electric motorcycles were not isolated as not requested.
• STATS20 has a vehicle type of Pedal Cycle, which includes electrically assisted pedal cycles. There is no way of isolating these electric pedal cycles from non-electrically assisted pedal cycles.
• Due to the non-specific vehicle types requested, all data supplied is just to be used as a guide and is not meant to be definitive.
• Only certain NON-INJURY RTC’s are recorded. Those that fall under the RTA 1988 and MOPI Guidelines. These fall outside the DfT’s STATS20 Guidelines.
• 2024 data is still been inputted.
• All data is LIVE, is subject to change, is un-audited and may differ from data published elsewhere.
Please note, every effort is made to ensure that the figures presented are accurate and complete. However, it is important to note that data has been extracted from data sources used by this force for police purposes. The detail collected to respond specifically to your request is subject to the inaccuracies inherent in any large scale recording systems and information assets.
The figures provided therefore are our best interpretation of relevance of data to your request, but you should be aware that the collation of figures/data for any requests may have limitations, and this should be taken into account when those data are used
Police forces do not use generic systems or identical procedures for capturing the data. For these reasons this response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with responses you may receive from other police forces.
