Reported Cyclist Injuries 2023-24
Request
I am writing to you Under The Freedom of Information Act 2000, to ask if you could you kindly answer the following questions relating to traffic offences, cycling and road use:
1) Between 1st July 2023 and 1st July 2024, the number of reported road incidents where a cyclist was injured
2) Between 1st July 2023 and 1st July 2024, the number of reported incidents where a cyclist was physically or verbally assaulted by a pedestrian or another road user
3) The number of reported bike thefts between 1st July 2023 and 1st July 2024
4) If reported as such, the street/area where the these offences were most likely to occur
5) If these have risen or fallen year on year
If it would be possible to receive this in an CSV or spreadsheet format that would be fantastic.
Thank you for considering this request. Should any of this fall outside of the scope of the Act or costing, please could you prioritise the request from 1 - 5 in descending order of priority, as I would be happy to receive an incomplete answer, if needed.

We approached our Operational Support Unit and Performance Review Unit with your requests. An analyst from each has provided the following data and explanations for their search criteria:

2. Please note this data is reliant upon the officer populating the MO Descs 1 and 2 as stated in the search criteria which are not mandatory fields.
Criteria Used –
Incident Created Date is between 01/07/2023 and 01/07/2024, SYP & crime only filter, MO Desc 1 is equal to / is in Victim, MO Desc 2 is equal to / is in Cyclist, HO Group Name is equal to / is in VIOLENCE AGAINST THE PERSON
Incident Created Date is between 01/07/2023 and 01/07/2024, SYP & crime only filter HO Sub Group Name is equal to / is in BICYCLE THEFT
Out of the 9 results, 7 records described physical and/or verbal abuse toward the cyclist

4 and 5. We have provided the statistical data, by ward, for the last 5 years to support your research. Please see the attached spreadsheet.
