Mental Health related 999 calls 2018-24

Request

As a freedom of information request, please provide, from Jan 2018 up until the most current month available at the point of production, the following:

1. The number of mental health related 999 calls your force received
2. The number of mental health related 999 calls to which your force responded
3. Detainments under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act 1983

Additionally, if available, please provide for the same period the following split by the county in which the incident occurred:

If monthly totals are not available, please provide annual totals instead. If the whole period requested is not available, please instead provide figures from the earliest point available up until the most recent at the point of production.

Additionally, has your force introduced Right Care, Right Person as a policy?

If so, when was it introduced? If not, are any plans for it to be introduced?

I approached an administrator for South Yorkshire Police’s Incident Management System. The Smart system records the majority of calls to South Yorkshire Police requiring the specific deployment of police resources, whether reported by members of the public via 999 or 101 or ‘happened upon’ by officers and staff in the course of their duties. The log runs as a running commentary of an incident as it unfolds and has limited search capability. They have provided me with the following explanation of their search criteria on the enclosed spreadsheet.

Please note that due to a system change, we can only provide data from December 2018 onwards. Any data prior to this is held on a historic system and would likely trigger Section 12.
