Request
• Bicycles reported stolen in the last year to your force: dates May 2023 – May 2024
• Reported e-bike theft in your entire force between May 2023 – May 2024
• E-bike thefts as a % of total bicycles thefts in your entire force between May 2023 - May 2024
• % of overall bike theft suspects identified
• % of overall e-bike theft suspects identified
• Number of e-bikes discovered or recovered
• Number of bike theft offenders given a prison sentence
• Number of bike theft offenders given a community sentence
• Number of bike theft offenders given a caution
Clarification - it would be acceptable to see how many were charged.
Response
I approached our Crime Management Data Returns Administrator for assistance with your request. The Connect System is used to record complaints or allegations of those matters, which the Home Office specify should be recorded as ‘crime’.
They provided me with the enclosed spreadsheet and the following explanation of their search criteria:
Criteria Used - Incident Created Date is between 01/05/2023 and 31/05/2024, SYP & crime only filter, Property Status is equal to Stolen, Stolen / Recovered, Property Class 2 is equal to / is in Pedal or Property Class 3 is equal to / is in E Scooter
Please note we do not record percentage figures – No Information Held.
We have provided a count of crime via the outcomes and a count of property via the bike breakdown.
