Number of officers dismissed for sexual misconduct 2015/16 to 2024/25

I would like to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act. Please can you tell me how many dismissals of officers there have been for sexual misconduct within your police force?

• I would like the numbers by year, for the previous ten full financial years, so starting with
2015/16.
• If that exceeds the FOI time limit, please send the numbers, by year, for the past five financial years, so starting with 2021/22.

I approached our Professional Standards and Discipline (PSD) department with your request. They have provided the following:

Searches for this request require manual review. Providing 10 years of data would exceed the 18-hour cost limit as described under Section 12 of the FOIA 2000.
However, we are able to provide data for the past 5 years, which you have requested in this instance.

Of note these figures do not include where officers have abused their position for a sexual gain (i.e inappropriate relationships etc)

The detail collected to respond specifically to your request is subject to the inaccuracies inherent in any large-scale recording systems and information assets.

The figures provided therefore are our best interpretation of relevance of data to your request, but you should be aware that the collation of figures/data for any requests may have limitations, and this should be taken into account when those data sets are used.

Police forces do not use generic systems or identical procedures for capturing the data. For these reasons this response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with responses you may receive from other police forces.
