Response
I approached the Force Mandatory Training Manager for assistance with your request who provided the following information:
Question 1
The national standard is 5.4 however to participate in Police & Personal Safety Training (PPST) officers can run to 3.7.
Question 2
From October 2024 to April 2026, 2,391 individuals have passed the fitness test.
Question 3
The current system does not provide the data you are requesting.
Question 4
Officers who are still shown as in their probation from 5/09/25 – 81 have passed.
The force is unable to provide details of how many of those from 5/09/25 have failed but since October
2024to April 2026, 18 have failed.
Question 5
All officers who fail the Job-Related Fitness Test are grounded until they pass the fitness test. There is a process in place for retests. The force is unable to provide individual data re ‘non-operational or non-frontline’ timescales.
Question 6
Officers have to return in 6 weeks to retest, or they are unable to participate in PPST which means they are grounded.
Question 7
No information held.
Police forces do not use generic systems or identical procedures for capturing the data. For these reasons this response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with responses you may receive from other police forces.
