Welcome message from the Neighbourhood Inspector, John Crapper

I am Inspector John Crapper and I lead the Rotherham Central Neighbourhood Team.

This covers the areas of Keppel, Rotherham West, Boston Castle and Rotherham East.  We will be working towards the force’s three priorities of tackling crime and anti-social behaviour; protecting vulnerable people; treating people fairly.  We will apply these objectives to the concerns of the residents in Rotherham.  We will also work closely with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council to work towards these aims.

Economic prosperity is key to improving the lives of the people who live in Rotherham and so we will seek to support the businesses in our area of Rotherham.  We will also do our best to ensure that people are able to enjoy a good quality of life where they live.

Your local police station is:

Riverside House

Main Street, Rotherham
S60 1QY

Rotherham West – Acquisitive crime

Begging and street drinking in the town centre were a concern to residents, business owners and visitors.

We did...

We have began work identifying those individuals, ensuring they are referred into agencies to support them. We continue to monitor incidents within the town centre and have received additional support from our colleagues in mounted and in task force to increase police visibility.

Speeding is a problem in Boston Castle Ward - Operation Slowdown.

We did...

You frequently tell us that speeding is a problem in your communities. We listen to these reports, and respond by conducting speed checks along those routes where you say you want to see more speeding operations. You can find out how these go by visiting our social media channels. Last week, we conducted an operation on Badsley Moor Lane, checking in excess of 70 vehicles. None were found to be speeding.

Off-road motorbikes are a nuisance in the Keppell ward.

We did...

In partnership with our off road bike team, we have an operation named “Op Arlington” which targets the use of off road bikes and the nuisance these cause to our communities. Illegal off road bikes are seized under the Police Reform Act and offenders are dealt with for road related offences.

You want us to tackle drug use and production throughout Rotherham Central.

We did...

We continue to listen to our communities and look into valuable intelligence. Numerous drug warrants have been executed in recent months with over £10m pounds of drugs being seized in the last 6 months.

Residential burglaries are concerning to us.

We did...

We recently worked with many partnership agencies to look into the spike in burglaries around the Clifton area. The introduction of Smart Water, community engagement and tackling our known offenders saw a reduction in the crimes recorded. We continue to listen and will always be here in our fight against thieves.

A further 2 have recently been arrested onm suspicion of drug dealing in the area and enquiries remain ongoing.
