Man charged for inappropriate use of emergency numbers

A Barnsley man has been charged with malicious communication in connection to abusing the emergency numbers of South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

Anthony Walker, 55, of Lindhurst Road, is charged with malicious communications offence of persistently making use of a public communication network to cause annoyance, inconvenience and anxiety. The charges relate to over 100 nuisance calls being made to emergency services since 2am on 14 July 2022.

He has been released on police bail and will appeared before Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on 24 August 2022.
