The Diversity Unit
The Diversity Unit is based within the Professional Standards Department and comprises the Diversity Unit Manager, a police sergeant and a diversity assistant. The Unit has direct management responsibility for:
· Developing and promoting the strategic management of diversity in South Yorkshire Police which focuses on, not only internal issues, but also on service delivery
· Monitoring and administering the First Contact, Fairness at Work and Positive Action Mentoring Schemes
· Compliance with law and regulation
· Marketing Diversity
· Proactively tackling fairness and inclusion issues within the force
The unit also audits the quality of Diversity Impact Assessments, ensuring that they are carried out for all policies and procedural instructions.
