Sheffield
Crime in Sheffield is at its lowest level in four years.
In the twelve months up to March 2008 vehicle crime fell 25 per cent and robbery dropped 23 per cent compared with the previous year.
Burglary is at its lowest level in six years and criminal damage is at a three-year low.
Working towards keeping crime down is the city’s 981 officers and 164 members of support staff.
Chief Superintendent Paul Broadbent, policing head for the district, is committed to tackling the things that matter most to the public.
To do this dedicated safer neighbourhood teams have been set up to tackle issues that affect people’s day-to-day lives, like criminal damage and nuisance behaviour.
The teams include police officers, special constables plus local authority wardens and ambassadors making them multi-agency crimebusters.
