Fatal road traffic collision - Penistone Road, Sheffield
Following the appeal sent out on Sunday January 25 - the 20-year-old man who died in the collision has been named Robert Luke Shaw-Cave - better known as Cavey to his friends, of Yew Ln, Ecclesfield. Sunday's appeal: Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal crash in Sheffield on Saturday night, which left a man dead and two others seriously hurt.
The incident happened at 11.15pm on 24-01-09 on the A61 Penistone Road, near to Wood Seats, Sheffield. A blue Lexus car was travelling out of the city, when the driver apparently lost control on a left-hand bend. The car struck the nearside kerb, then crossed the carriageway and hit a wall. The front-seat passenger, a 20-year-old man from Ecclesfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 27-year-old High Green man, suffered serious injuries and is detained at the Northern General Hospital. His rear-seat passenger, a 22-year-old Ecclesfield man, suffered serious leg injuries and is detained in the same hospital. Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash.
