Police appeal after three masked men rob the Plough public house in Catcliffe, Rotherham

Police are appealing for witnesses and information in connection to a robbery at the Plough public house, Main Street, Catcliffe in the early hours of Saturday 20th February. At about 12:30am, while the 43 year-old female manager of the Plough was cashing-up by the till area, three men wearing balaclavas burst into the pub and pushed the manager to the floor. They had entered through the rear fire door and after pushing the manager over, two men began to take cash from the till. The third man was seen trying to move the bandit machine but was told by one of the other men to “leave it!” before all three fled through the same rear fire door and made their escape. It appears that no weapons were used and the victim was not injured during the incident, but was left understandably shaken by the events. One man was described as 5’ 10” tall with a slim build and wearing a dark grey hooded top and light blue jeans. The second man was approximately 5’ 7” tall with a slim build and wearing the same or similar dark grey hooded top and light blue jeans as the first man. The third man was about 5’ 9” tall, with a much stockier build and a large beer belly. He was wearing a similar grey hooded top as the other two men, but wore dark blue jeans with the name ‘Rockport’ across the back pockets. He was also wearing black trainers with a silver motif on the side. All three men were wearing dark balaclavas. Police want to speak to anyone who has information about this robbery, or anyone who witnessed the men entering or fleeing the Plough. DC Gary Luckock who is investigating this case said: “Although the robbers did not carry weapons, this was still a violent and frightening incident. “It is possible that the men are local and we would ask that anyone with information come forward straight away and either speak to the police or make an anonymous call to Crimestoppers.” Anyone with information should call DC Luckock on 01709 832 274 or email: gary.luckock@southyorks.pnn.police.uk or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
