NOT IN MY NEIGHBOURHOOD WEEK

Not in My Neighbourhood Week runs from Monday 2 November to Friday 6 November 2009.

Officers from the Ecclesfield, Hillsborough and Burngreave Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs) are teaming up with partner agencies such as Sheffield Homes, Sheffield Drugs and Alcohol Action Team and Youth Engagement Services to run a number of activities as part of a Home Office Campaign.

Chief Inspector Paul McCurry who is the lead for South Yorkshire Police, Sheffield district, said: "The aim is to promote what work is being done locally by the police and the public services and to encourage members of our communities to engage with the police and partner agencies and play a part in tackling crime and antisocial behaviour (ASB)."

During this period, a police display bus will be situated in various locations, staffed by police officers from the SNTs, police community support officers (PCSOs) and representatives from partner agencies.  Members of the public are invited to call in and speak to staff, offering advice about crime prevention, personal safety, drugs and alcohol.

Anyone wishing to call into the police bus will find it situated at the following locations between 10.00am and 3.00pm.

Monday 2nd November - Ellesmere Green, Burngreave.

Tuesday 3rd November - Firth Park, near to the library.

Wednesday 4th November - Deer Park, Stannington.

Thursday 5th November - Co-op car park, Stocksbridge.

Friday 6th November - Fox Hill bus terminus, near to Fox Hill Crescent.

In addition, useful information and contact numbers will be displayed on an advert van that will be travelling around the north of the city. Police will be working alongside Trading Standards during test purchase operations to ensure alcohol and firework retailers adhere to the Licensing Act, and high visibility patrols will be carried out in key locations to crack down on ASB.
