Road crime operation in Hyde Park

Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) David Colclough ran a road crime operation on Friday 27 February to tackle untaxed vehicles, the use of illegal fuels and people fraudulently claiming benefits.

A checkpoint was set up at the roundabout on White Rose Way, Decoy Bank South, by four police officers, five special constables, two PCSOs, Customs and Excise, DVLA and Doncaster Council.

PCSO David Colclough said, "We are targeting people who are using untaxed vehicles and illegal fuels. We are also focusing on benefits cheats."

The one-day operation resulted in 77 vehicles checked for illegal fuel and none were found to be using red diesel. 57 drivers were told to produce their documentation (insurance/driving licence and Mot) to be checked at a police station.

Eight tickets were issued to people for not wearing seat belts or for numberplate offences, where they had illegally displayed numbers/ letters plates.

Seven vehicles were clamped for not having tax and the owners given a £260 fine to release their cars. One car was towed away as the fee for releasing the clamp, wasn't paid.
