Helicopter drops in on school
Year 7 pupils at Danum School Technology College enjoyed a visit from the police helicopter, SY99, which was quite special on the first day back after half term.
The planned visit was originally a reward earned by a small group of Year 7 students who have successfully completed a course run by the school and PC Neil Humphreys. The course had focused on raising achievement and attainment.
The school wanted to share their success and everyone in Year 7 was invited onto the school field to watch the helicopter arrive in glorious sunshine as PC Neil Humphreys navigated a safe landing. All the students were excited to have a tour around the helicopter and ask the pilot some searching questions.
PC Neil Humphreys said, "The helicopter visit was well received by pupils and staff and a timely reward for the pupils hard work."
Afterwards they all attended an assembly and watched a short film about the work undertaken by the South Yorkshire Air Support Unit. Students were then given the opportunity to ask more questions.
