Diversionary activities including the Edlington and Warmsworth Motorcycle Scheme has been a successful part of the operation where local community groups worked with the SNT to run a motorcycle project for over 100 young people. None of the children taking part has offended using illegal motorcycles since the scheme began in July 2008.

PC Simon Kirkham from the Edlington SNT said: "This measure is just one of a number we are making in Edlington and Warmsworth to make the area safer. We are targeting known offenders, utilising specialist police and council teams with CCTV and night vision equipment as well as supporting and leading youth activities for the well behaved such as the highly popular motorcycle scheme.

The SNT are listening to opinions of young people with the largest survey ever in the area. The team are being very tough on those that persist with antisocial behaviour but recognise the vast majority of young people in the area are well behaved."
