Crack house closure in Wheatley

Wheatley Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) had received complaints of antisocial behaviour and suspected drug dealing at a rented property on Gloucester Road, Wheatley, Doncaster.

The house was legally occupied by one official tenant a 31-year-old woman who lived there with her partner a 40-year-old man and eleven-year-old child.

Evidence was gathered with the help of the community which led to a three-month closure order (effective from July 15) being granted due to the abuse of class A drugs and antisocial behaviour.

Sergeant John Hunter from the SNT, said: “Obtaining this order will mean that residents of Gloucester Road will be able to enjoy living there again.

“Without the residents assistance it wouldn’t have been possible to get the order. I hope this will give residents the confidence to report any matter affecting their neighbourhood to the SNT.”

A resident from Gloucester Road, said: “We’re glad that these people have gone. Hopefully the street will return to the way it was for all the years before they moved in.”

“Everyone on this street is really happy with the action that the SNT took.”

Another resident from Gloucester Road added: “We had been seriously considering moving house because of what was happening. Now we don’t have to.”
