Activities for youngsters in Wheatley and Intake
Wheatley and Intake Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) and Danum School have established several initiatives to work with young people.
On Fridays and Saturdays, there is a very popular youth club at Intake Library/Community Centre, with over 160 members. The sessions were so well attended that to cater for younger people an extra night, a Thursday evening session was set up.
SNT officers arranged quad biking sessions and a motorcycle maintenance club with several vehicles to refurbish.
Working in partnership with Danum School, the SNT part funded activities such as boxing and Strutz Modelling which attracted over 100 students each week.
Sgt John Hunter said, "The SNT has developed good links with Danum School and will continue to positively engage with pupils. The real winners are the 160 young people who are attending the youth club sessions every week."
