Central SNT helps re-home 4 Shetland ponies after owner falls ill
Central Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) have helped re-house 4 Shetland ponies after their owner, Pat Whiteside, 59, of Old Mill Lane, Barnsley fell ill and was unable to look after them.
Central SNT first met Pat Whiteside whilst dealing with a resident dispute reported in 2009.
When Pat fell ill recently her main concern was for the care of her beloved animals and PCSOs from central SNT offered their support by helping to find them a new home.
Pat’s partner passed away 11 months ago and since then Pat has had sole responsibility for the four horses that lived on land just off Old Mill Lane.
On Friday 12 February, the ponies were transported to a horse sanctuary at Millhouse Green, Penistone where they joined 40 others to live on 6.5 acres of land.
Central SNT PCSO Andrea Ford,“Safer neighbourhood teams are responsible for dealing with crime and quality of life issues at a community level. We met Pat because we were called to a dispute before Christmas. Helping her to find a safe and happy home for her four ponies after she was taken ill is just one of the ways that we have supported Pat and will continue to support her. Anyone who would like to meet their SNT or dedicated area PCSO in person should leave a message on our contact line 01226 736395.We are here to help and the closer we can work together, the better.”
