Police launch investigation after Rossington house fire

Police are appealing for information after a Doncaster house fire left eight people injured.

At around 3am this morning, Sunday August 16, 2009, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue were alerted to the fire on Boswell Close, Rossington.

Eight people were present at the address when the fire started, four adults and four children. The property's smoke alarm woke the residents and all eight managed to escape via a first floor window.

All eight were taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary and treated for smoke inhalation and other injuries. Three adults and four children have subsequently been released from hospital but a 49-year-old woman has been detained at DRI having sustained two broken ankles when escaping from the property.

Detectives are investigating the cause of the fire and believe it may have been started deliberately.

Anyone with information about the fire should contact Detective Constable Andy Gray on 01302 385630.
