Four arrested following Broomhall shooting

Detectives have today arrested four men in connection with the murder of James Kamara.

A 26-year-old Sheffield man was arrested in the Liverpool area during the early hours of this morning, Monday 6 July. Three other Sheffield men, also in their twenties, have been arrested at addresses in the Sheffield area.

James Kamara, 22, from Pitsmoor, received fatal gunshot wounds during a shooting incident on Brunswick Street in Broomhall, Sheffield, shortly after 6.30pm last Wednesday, 1 July. Detectives are still urging witnesses to this incident to come forward.

The man initially arrested in connection with the incident was released without charge.

The other seriously injured man, a 21-year-old from Sheffield, remains at the Northern General Hospital in a serious but stable condition having suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and arm.

Along with the initial shooting, detectives wish to renew their appeal for witnesses to a dispute near Devonshire Green at around 5pm last Wednesday, and for information about the vehicle suspected to have been involved in the incident.

The offenders are believed to have fled from the scene in a silver Vauxhall Vectra, registration plate FJ52 GWP, and travelled through the Broomhall estate on Collegiate Crescent, Park Lane and Clarkehouse Road.

The car was found abandoned and partially burnt out around 8.25pm the same evening behind a public house off Whitehouse Lane, Walkley.

The dispute near to Devonshire Green, Devonshire Street, occurred at approximately 5pm last Wednesday, 1 July.

Glasses were allegedly thrown when two large groups of males are believed to have confronted each other. The groups of men were thought to have been involved in a verbal dispute near Devonshire Green. The incident is believed to have lasted around five minutes.
