Police investigating an assault, which left a 51-year-old man with serious facial injuries are appealing for witnesses or information from the public.

The incident happened at around 03.30am on Sunday 04^th January 2009 on Wincobank Lane in the Grimesthorpe area of the city.

The 51-year-old was walking home after a night out when he was approached by a group of five or six men. He was then assaulted by a number of these men, who punched and kicked him, leaving him with injuries to his face that required stitches.
