Police investigating an assault on a 21-year-old woman in Sheffield are appealing for information from the public.

The incident took place around 1.20am on Sunday 28^th December 2008, on Potters Gate near Sunnybank in the High Green area of the city. The 21-year-old woman was walking along a footpath on Potters Gate near to an electrical substation, which has a public bench opposite, when a man has approached her from behind and grabbed her. A short struggle has then taken place, during which the 21-year-old has ended up, on the ground. The 21-year-old has then managed to get to her feet and run away. As a result of the incident the woman sustained minor bruising to her body.

The man is described as white, and of medium build. He was wearing a dark coloured hoodie with the hood up, a baseball hat and a scarf across his face.

Police believe that as a result of the struggle the man may have sustained scratch/nail marks and bruising to his face.
