Police Appeal following assault

 Police investigating an assault on a 21-year-old woman in Sheffield are appealing for information from the public.

The incident took place around 1.20am on Sunday 28th December 2008, on Potters Gate near Sunnybank in the High Green area of the city. The 21-year-old woman was walking along a footpath on Potters Gate near to an electrical substation, which has a public bench opposite, when a man has approached her from behind and grabbed her. A short struggle has then taken place, during which the 21-year-old has ended up, on the ground. The 21-year-old has then managed to get to her feet and run away. As a result of the incident the woman sustained minor bruising to her body.

The man is described as white, and of medium build. He was wearing a dark coloured hoodie with the hood up, a baseball hat and a scarf across his face.

Police believe that as a result of the struggle the man may have sustained scratch/nail marks and bruising to his face.
