Police appeal after 23-year-old man knocked down in Thorne, Doncaster on Sunday 27 June

South Yorkshire Police are investigating a fatal road traffic collision in which a 23-year-old man died in Thorne, Doncaster.

The collision occurred at 11.40pm on Sunday 27 June, on King Street, Thorne, Doncaster, when the man, Adam Wayne Atick, was struck by a large white pick up when he was walking on the pavement. The vehicle failed to stop at the scene.

Mr Atick, from Thorne, suffered serious internal and head injuries and was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary, where he was pronounced dead at 2.15am on Monday 28 June.

A 24-year-old man from Moorends was arrested on Monday morning in connection with the collision and was charged with causing the death of Mr Atick, by careless driving with excess alcohol.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the collision or the vehicle being driven around the Thorne area on Sunday night (27 June) or the early hours of Monday, 28 June.  Investigators are also appealing for anyone with any other information on this incident to call the witness helpline 0114 2202970.
