Motorcyclist loses life in Thorne traffic collision
South Yorkshire Police are appealing for information after an 18-year-old man lost his life in a traffic collision on Selby Road, Thorne, Doncaster today (Tuesday 29 June).
At about 3.10pm the 18-year-old from Goole was riding his black Honda motorbike along the A614 Selby Road towards Selby when at its junction with Hadds Lane, Thorne, he attempted to overtake an articulated lorry that was travelling in the same direction and had started to turn right into Hadds Lane. The bike collided with the rear offside of the Foden lorry trailer.
The 18-year-old man sustained multiple injuries and was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The 61-year-old man driving the white and blue heavy tractor unit was not thought to have been hurt.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the manner of driving /riding of both vehicles prior to the collision and anyone that may have seen what happened to call the witness helpline on 0114 2202970.
The lorry driver from Doncaster was arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention and has been bailed pending further enquires.
