Chief discusses crime and safety issues with residents

Chief Constable of South Yorkshire Police Meredydd Hughes has been discussing community issues with residents of Bolton-upon-Dearne recently at the latest Crime and Safety Group (CSG).

The meeting, held on the 19 April at Willowcroft, Dearne Road, was attended by local residents, Dearne Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT), local councillors and of course the chief himself.  He was invited to attend the meeting by Lynn Cadman who chairs the monthly group.

Chief Constable Hughes said:“I wanted to attend the meeting as I feel it is essential that I understand in detail the concerns of those who call the area their home, and work with residents and partners to identify policing priorities.

“I am pleased with the outstanding performance of the police in Barnsley with crime being at its lowest in 21 years. There has also been a significant reduction in crimes reported throughout the Dearne area with almost 400 less victims of crime since 12 months ago.”

Anyone is welcome to attend their local CSG meeting. Bolton-upon-Dearne’s next meeting will take place at 6pm on Monday 24 May at Heather Court, Carr Field Lane.
