Serious collision on Westwood New Road

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision that occurred just before 10am yesterday (Saturday, 21 August) in High Green, Sheffield.
 
A silver Ford focus is reported to have emerged out of Wortley Road on to Westwood New Road, infront of a blue Peugeot 307 which had been travelling towards Sheffield from Tankersley.
 
The Peugeot is believed to have then crossed the carriageway and collided with a black Renault Scenic which was travelling in the opposite direction.
 
The Peugeot has come to rest on a grass verge on the Howbrook side of the carriageway.
 
The Focus is thought to have stopped at the scene but then left in the direction of Sheffield.
 
The passenger of the Peugeot, a 33-year-old Sheffield woman, sustained a fractured pelvis and ribs, and cuts to her head. She was taken to Northern General Hospital and detained.
 
The driver of the Peugeot a 31-year-old man, also from Sheffield, was also taken to NGH with a serious head injury and detained.
 
The passenger of the Renault, a 73-year-old woman from Crosspool, sustained serious fractures to her back. She was taken to NGH and detained.
 
The driver of the Renault, a 73-year-old man, also from Crosspool, suffered minor whiplash. He was also taken to NGH but wasn’t detained.
 
Police are appealing for the driver of the Focus to come forward with any information which may assist officers with their investigation by calling the witness line on 0114 2202970.
 
Police are also appealing for a man who left written information at the scene, to also contact the witness line.
