Police appeal for witnesses after serious collision in Sheffield

Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorbike and a car collided at 6pm yesterday evening, Wednesday 21 July, on East Bank Road, in Sheffield.

A blue Yamaha XJR ridden by a 25-year-old man was travelling up the hill towards Manor Top, when it overtook a van and moved into the opposing carriageway.

A black BMW 328 driven by a 58-year-old man was travelling down the hill towards the city centre. The bike braked and the BMW driver tried to steer away from the bike, but the vehicles collided.

The 25-year-old local man sustained a fractured arm and punctured lung and is being treated in the Northern General Hospital.

The 58-year-old car driver, also from Sheffield, suffered slight neck and back injuries, as did his 42-year-old female passenger.
