Police issue warning to horse riders

Royston Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) would like to remind horse riders in the area that it is an offence to ride on footpaths and could result in arrest.

Residents from across Royston, particularly High View have complained to police that local horse riders continue to ride on paths illegally meaning wheelchair users  and those pushing prams sometimes end up walking on the road.

PCSO Lesley Trickett said: “Some horse riders may not be aware that is it illegal to carry out this activity. I encourage all horse owners to ensure they are fully aware of the laws and regulations around owning and riding a horse before doing so in public areas.”
