Police are appealing for information from the public following an assault on a man in the Intake area of Sheffield.

The incident occurred around 12.05am on Sunday 11^th April 2010. A 54-year-old man was walking down Woodhouse Road near to the junction with Kilvington Road, when a man has approached him from behind, engaged him in conversation before assaulting him in what is believed to be an unprovoked attack. As a result the 54-year-old sustained serious facial injuries.

The offender is described as white, in his 30s, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall, of stocky build. He had a bald or short shaven light coloured hair. He was wearing a navy hooded cardigan with a checked shirt underneath.
