Police appeal following a sexual assault in Sheffield
Police investigating allegations of a serious sexual assault on a 54-year-old woman in the Wincobank area of Sheffield are appealing for information from the public.
The offence is said to have taken place shortly before 6pm on Wednesday 14 April 2010 on playing fields near Wincobank Hill, Jenkin Road and Forthill Road.
The woman was walking her dog when she was approached by a man who subjected her to a serious sexual assault.
The offender ran off in the direction of Jenkin Road and Newman Road. He is described as having a tanned complexion or of an Eastern European appearance, between 5ft 4ins and 5ft 8ins tall, late 30s to early 40s with a thick black tidy hairstyle. He was wearing a lumberjack style shirt with a dark coloured check on a lighter background.
Inspector Darren Starkey from South Yorkshire Police said:” We want to reassure the public this is an isolated incident, we are working with the local Safer Neighbourhood Team and officers from CID to identify the offender we have increased patrols in the area and enquiries are ongoing.”
