Police appeal after man collides with taxi in Maltby

South Yorkshire Police are appealing for information after an 18-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries in a collision in Maltby, Rotherham, today, Sunday, 15 August.

At 3.55am, the man and his girlfriend were being dropped off in a taxi, on Disraeli Grove, Maltby. The man got out of the blue Toyota Avensis whilst his girlfriend was inside the taxi disputing the bill. The taxi driver then allegedly, locked the girlfriend in the car and attempted to drive off, as the boyfriend knocked on the window. The taxi turned in the street and collided with the man. 

The taxi stopped at the end of the street and the girlfriend got out. The taxi continued its journey.  

The 18-year-old man, from Maltby sustained life-threatening internal injuries and is being treated in Rotherham General District Hospital.

A 27-year-old man from Rotherham was arrested in connection with the incident.
