Police appeal after Stannington man found with serious injuries

Police are appealing for information from the public to establish the circumstances leading to the discovery of 20-year-old Stannington man who was found with serious injuries.

The 20-year-old was found at 1.00am on Saturday morning, 12 June 2010, outside the Anvil Public House in Stannington Road. He was found with his leg trapped on a railing, and had serious head and facial injuries. He appeared to have been subjected to a serious assault.

The injured man was conveyed to hospital where he remains, his condition is being closely monitored.

It is believed that earlier in the evening he had been with friends in the Hillsborough Corner area before heading home to Stannington.

Police are appealing to anyone with information, or who believes they witnessed the incident or has information in relation to where the incident took place, to call South Yorkshire Police on 0114 2202020 and ask to be put through to Ecclesfield CID.
