Two arrested after motorbike theft reported
Police in Barnsley have made two arrests in relation to a motorbike theft that occurred last night.
At approximately 8.30pm, yesterday evening (Wednesday 10 March), police received a report that a blue Yamaha motorbike had been stolen from Asda car park, Old Mill Lane, Barnsley.
PCSOs from Royston Safer Neighbourhood Team were conducting patrols close by on Wakefield Road and were the first to arrive at the scene.
After a search of the area, the stolen bike was located less than a mile away and thanks to the support of Royston Safer Neighbourhood Team, the force dog handler and response team officers a 24 year old man and a 15 year old boy were apprehended shortly after.
Royston Safer Neighbourhood Team PCSO Claire Banks said, “We were patrolling close by when the incident was reported and could therefore respond quickly. There are currently two in custody and the bike has been return to its rightful owner as a result,”
