Appeal for witnesses after bag snatch in Rotherham

Police in Rotherham are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman had her bag snatched in the Clifton area of Rotherham.

The incident happened last month at about 11.25am on Tuesday 8th June. The victim, an 84-year-old woman from the local area, was walking along Middle Lane heading towards the Post Office at the junction with Lister Street when two men waked passed her.

One of these men grabbed the victim’s bag and both ran off towards Gilberthorpe Street. During the brief struggle, the victim fell to the ground, suffering  some minor injuries.

Both suspects are described as white men in their late 20s and about 5ft 5in tall. One was wearing a dark baseball cap, a zipped-up black hooded tracksuit top and black trousers. The second suspect was also wearing a dark baseball cap and a dark waterproof top with red and white stripes.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened that morning, or anyone with information about this incident.
