Graffiti will not be tolerated in Wombwell, Police in Barnsley warn.
Youngsters vandalising a Wombwell shop with graffiti have been warned they will be prosecuted by police if caught.
PCSO Matt Shaughnessy, of the Wombwell Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT), has been investigating complaints of graffiti being scribbled in marker pen onto the premises of Kings Road News, Wombwell, Barnsley.
The shop’s owner has reported a number of incidents in which youngsters have been hanging around the general store, leaving unsightly scribble on the external walls.
PCSO Shaughnessy has already warned several teenagers, but the offenders have not been caught.
He said: “I’d like to young people in the community to know that vandalism will not be tolerated. Anyone found defacing the property will be prosecuted for criminal damage.”
Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council Neighbourhood Wardens have now removed the graffiti.
Anyone with information about the graffiti at Kings Road News can call the SNT on 01442 736478 or 01442 202020. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
