The Cudworth Safer Neighbourhood Team has tackled underage drinking and antisocial behaviour in Barnsley’s parks.

Following an influx of complaints from residents about nuisance youths and antisocial behaviour in parks across the SNT area, officers conducted high profile patrols on Friday 16 April to show that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated.

Patrols were carried out at Cudworth Welfare Park, the Cudworth Valley Park, the Grove/Royston Road Park and The Dell at Grimethorpe.

More than £200 of alcohol was seized from youths during the patrols. A 20-year-old man from Cudworth will also be prosecuted for disorder.

Sergeant Stephanie Smith, of the Cudworth SNT, said: “Police will continue to deal with both youngsters and adults that drink alcohol within our parks. We will also prosecute anyone who supplies alcohol to those aged under-18.”
