ACC Sahota
• Restorative Justice Training - It was suggested that a comprehensive presentation, of no longer than one hour, be given to a future SCT meeting after which it would be determined whether SCT needed to attend one of the training days being organised by CJAD.
• Modernising Charging - gave details about an agreement reached by the DPP and Chief Crown Prosecutors across the country, which was to go to group charging by telephone for the whole of the Yorkshire and Humber region. ACC Sahota said he had concerns, especially as CPS are considering implementation on 15 April 2010, and that if one system was adopted SYP may get a poorer service than it receives at present. He said he had asked CPS to prepare a paper outlining the proposal in full which he will share with SCT colleagues as soon as possible.

53. StopSticks
DCC Dyson introduced this report, the purpose of which was to inform and advise Senior Command Team on a strategy to bring vehicle pursuits to an early and safe resolution through the deployment of Stopstick devices by SYP Police Officers.
1. That SCT approve ‘Stopstick' deployment.
2. That SCT agree which officers should be trained and authorised in ‘Stopstick'
deployment
3. That SCT approve the funding for the initial purchase of the equipment
4 That SCT agree the replacement strategy
SCT approved the proposal of having StopSticks as tactical option, but agreed that until a final decision could be reached details of where the money is to come from for the initial purchase of the equipment needed to be provided, as did a procurement strategy. Also the report needed to outline if there are any replacement costs associated with sticks which have been deployed.
