1) How much money, over and above the cost of ordinary day-to-day policing, was spent on policing the protests that took place in Sheffield city centre on Wednesday, November 24, Wednesday December 1 and Wednesday, December 8?
2) How much money, over and above the cost of ordinary day-to-day policing, has been spent on policing the sit-in protests which were ongoing at Sheffield University since Wednesday, November 24?
3) How much money, over and above the cost of ordinary day-to-day policing, was spent on policing the protests at Nick Clegg's constituency office in Bents Green on both Wednesday, November 24 and Wednesday December 1?
4) Finally, how many extra police who would ordinarily have been off-duty were drafted in to deal with each day of protest on Wednesday, November 24, Wednesday December 1 and Wednesday, December 8, and were any other special measures put in place?

Records held by South Yorkshire Police indicate that the following public demonstrations were held at the sites shown: - 

24/11/2010                  Sheffield Town Hall

30/11/2010                  Constituency Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr N Clegg

08/12/2010                  Sheffield Town Hall

 

1)         The only additional costs that can be specifically attributed to the policing of the demonstrations of 24/11/2010, 30/11/2010 & 08/12/2010 relate to the payment of overtime to officers necessarily performing extended duty. These additional costs were as follows: - 

24/11/2010                  £860

30/11/2010                  £600

08/12/2010                  No additional costs. 

2)         No additional costs were incurred in relation to the ‘sit-in protests’ at Sheffield University. 

3)         South Yorkshire Police records show that there was no protest at the constituency office of the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr N. Clegg on Wednesday 24/11/2010. The only protest held at that site was on Tuesday 30/11/2010. The cost of overtime to ensure adequate and appropriate level of policing response to this demonstration was £600.  

4)         No police officers or members of police staff were subject of leave cancellations in order to provide adequate and appropriate levels of policing in  response to the above-mentioned demonstrations. Neither were any ‘special measures’ instigated.
