I was wondering if you could possibly assist me with some research that I am performing.

I am a post graduate HR Management student from Leeds Metropolitain University.  I am currently working on a management research report, based on the implementation of a standardised support process for individuals with the condition of Dyslexia.
I would like to know if you operate a policy which relates to the assistance of employees with the condtion of Dyslexia?  If so, would you possibly be able to porvide me with a copy of this?
Exemptions Applied:

S.21: Information accessible by other means

SYP response:

South Yorkshire Police does not have a policy specific to the condition of Dyslexia. The issue is covered by the general policy entitled ‘Managing Disability’, a copy of which is available on the Force website at: -

Your request for information has now been considered and I am not able to supply the information you have requested.

Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires South Yorkshire Police, when refusing to provide such information (because the information is exempt) to provide you the applicant with a notice which:

  1. states that fact,
  2. specifies the exemption in question and
  3. states (if that would not otherwise be apparent) why the exemption applies.

By virtue of Section 2(3) of the Freedom of Information Act, 2000 the exemption applicable to the information is “absolute” in that it falls under section 21. This states ‘Information which is reasonably accessible to the applicant otherwise than under section 1 is exempt information’.
