1. How many Penalty Notices for Disorder were issued by your police force in the years 2007 & 2008, with the data broken down into i)category of offence, ii)age of offenders ie a)16-17 year olds b)18-24 year olds and c0 over 24 year olds; and iii) sex of offenders.
2. How many of the PND notices in those years were paid i) at all and ii) within the statutory timescale.
3. Of all the PNDs issued by your police force since 2004, how many individuals have been issued with more than one PND, with the data of these repeat offenders to be proken down into 3 sub categories: those who have been issued with i)2-3 offences, ii) 4-5 offences; and iii) more than 5 offences
Section 12 - Exemption where cost of compliance exceeds appropriate limit

3. Your request for information has now been considered and I am not obliged to supply the information you have requested. Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires South Yorkshire Police, when refusing to provide such information (because the information is exempt) to provide you the applicant with a notice which:
(a) states that fact;
(b) specifies the exemption in question and;
(c) states (if that would not otherwise be apparent) why the exemption applies.
The following exemption applies to the disclosure of the information:
Section 12 - Exemption where cost of compliance exceeds appropriate limit
As there is no computerised facility, a manual trawl through records would be necessary to locate and retrieve the information you request. As there have been 31,647 PNDs issued from 2004 to July 2009, such a task would exceed the ‘appropriate level' of cost.
The cost associated with conducting the above searches is above the amount to which we are legally required to respond i.e. the cost of locating and retrieving the information exceeds the ‘appropriate level' as stated in the (ACPO: Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004) (ACPOS: Freedom of Information (Fees for Required Disclosure)(Scotland) Regulations 2004 and Freedom of Information (Fees for disclosure under section 13)(Scotland) Regulations 2004).
