Equality Information 2010-11
In keeping with Section 149 of the Equality Act 2010 (the public sector equality duty), and the Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties) Regulations 2011, this report is used to publish equality information about South Yorkshire Police (SYP).
SYP recognises the importance of collecting and analysing equality information as a way of understanding the impact of its policies and practices on people with protected characteristics, both as service users and members of its workforce.
Information is provided about the profile and experiences of the workforce, including police officers, police community support officers, police staff and special constables.
In addition, the report gives information about the incidence of some types of crime in South Yorkshire and about various practices of SYP. This includes stop and search activity, complaints from the public and grievances made by members of the workforce.
Where possible using current data recording methods and information systems, the information presented is aligned with the most recent guidance from the Equality and Human Rights Commission. In keeping with the spirit of the public sector equality duty, SYP will seek to evolve and continually improve the quality and detail of the information presented in future versions of this report.
